A NEW FIELD TRIP DISCOVERED

In Ferry Farm, Virginia, at the site of the legendary cherry tree story, archaeologists discovered the foundations and cellars of the original George's home.  Over the next few years, they will reconstruct the house back to its original floor plan.  Some of the artifacts discovered on the site were carnelian beads and wig curlers.  That explains the stylish do of our beloved George Washington.  Poor George, if  he only knew what the new George has done to the value of the dollar that graces his cherry loving face.

Vanity Fair, the vision of the new century does it again and again.  With their groundbreaking story of "Hollywood's New Wave," the cover girls are four white beauties. Like most of their other "Hollywood" issues they have two people of color on the other pages. With the anticipation of Italian Vogue hitting the news stands within the week, let's not hold our collective breath thinking that the people at Vanity Fair will change anytime soon.

As the economy continues to take hit after hit, Starbucks announces that it will be closing up to 600 stores this year  in the U.S. and will only be opening 200 stores in 2009. So that may mean if your a Starbucks addict you may have to walk an extra 200 feet to get your fix.

THE TALK OF THE TOWN: SANTOS' PARTY HOUSE

While most party people leave the city during the summer for house parties in the Hamptons etc, the smart ones stay in Manhattan and do it at SANTO'S PARTY HOUSE.  A dual-level, dance palace of sorts has something going on 7 days a week.  Their special disco, (I'm not talking cheesy disco but good ol' soul disco), Wednesday nights is worth checking out. The vibe is fun and low-key and a definite must-go before it gets contaminated by all those returning from their summer sameness.  

LANVIN a NO SHOW ONLY KAYNE

With all the talk about fashion week taking a turn towards diversity, Lanvin's show sure ended it all. One of last shows of men's fashion week, Lanvin delivered the designs but not on the rumblings of  a diverse line-up of models.  Once again it was a show with the traditional vacant, white models and the one "special" ethnic model. Interesting, though, was Kayne showing up at the Lanvin runway show adding to the "count"of ethnic diversity.
