V 58 FRONT COVER TO NATALIA VODIANOVA and LUKE GRIMES

The new cover of V was shot by Mario Testino and it glows in the dark. It also has beauty, Natalia Vodianova sharing the cover with actor Luke Grimes. All more the reason the pick up the newest issue, V58. Mario also did an editorial with Luke, who is being compared to River Phoenix. There is a resemblance to River Phoenix but that is a huge comparison to live up to as an actor. Luke has done a couple of films which haven't made it to the big screen yet but he can be seen on ABC's, "Brothers and Sisters," as the newest addition to the family.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...CARINE vs. ANNA...ANNA vs. CARINE

Ok people we've been hearing it now all for awhile the Anna vs. Carine or Carine vs. Anna ---let's not get all silly and LA like are you on Team Carine or Team Anna and begin to wear those tacky t-shirts that state it. Both Carine and Anna are amazing and have their own sense of style, charisma, and taste that adds so much to the fashion world. We know that Anna is being followed around by 60 minutes and the segment will air during May sweeps and provide a push for the documentary,"The September Issue," which has been receiving huge praises. Carine is being followed by CNNI (CNN International) for their program,"Revealed." Certain blogs and people are saying who's piece will hit the air first and beat out the other as if they are talking about Lindsay vs. Paris vs. Britney. Now, now, now people it's just not the same and we don't want it to be that way. Enjoy Carine for her incredible French independence and Anna for her incredible sense of American chic. C'est la vie...

HEADS WILL ROLL-YEAH YEAH YEAHS- BLITZ

This is one of our favorite tracks from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs new CD, "Blitz," called "Heads Will Roll." Some folks are capping on them saying that they are losing their edge. We say it's all in the same vein and moving forward in the right direction. It's another song for the new season ahead.

YEAH YEAH YEAHS-"ZERO"

Karen O and the crew are back with their new CD, "Blitz," and "Zero" is their first song and vid. The new CD is a lighter/dance vibe that doesn't waive from who they are as a group. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs always have this unyielding edge and force and we have to say they are their best when they remain themselves, like in this video, and not go over the top. Yes, there will always be comparisons to Chrissie Hynde, but Karen has a modern flair all her own.

Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone

We've been listening to Calvin Harris' new track, "I'm Not Alone," for awhile anxiously waiting for the video and at last here it is for all to see. He's stepping away from the "Acceptable in the '80's" sound (which everyone is doing now) and headed to the possible reign of the song of spring/summer '09. Get ready for the re-mixes.

YET ANOTHER PREDICTION TO THE END OF NEW YORK CITY

New York City has definitely faced major events, like 911 but why when it comes to predicting the end of the world it all begins in NYC. There are the movies,"Planet of the Apes," "The Escape From New York," and of course, "The Warriors," that play on that theme, and now comes pastor David Wilkerson who predicts fires and riots to start in NYC soon and have a domino effect throughout other cities in the U.S. He views it as a judgement from God that will be an earth shattering calamity and make all of us tremble. Well, it seems he may already be talking about the economy and Wall Street. Perhaps pastor Wilkerson should keep an eye out for all of his evangelicals who are willing to pass judgement and point fingers instead of coming together and to save the cheerleader.

CHANEL IMAN-GLAMOUR-HOUSE of STYLE

As we mentioned in our previous post, Chanel Iman will be one of the co-hosts of MTV'S, "House of Style." She'll be sharing duties with Bar Rafaeli who was the most recent cover girl for Sports Illustrated. Here's a recent photo of Chanel in the new Glamour where she's portraying tennis star, Althea Gibson. The revamped MTV series most likely will make both of these girls household names and just may bring the supermodel back in the ring to fight it out with the Hollywood starlette. Will the supermodel take the spotlight back like in their hey days of Naomi, Christy, Linda, and Cindy?

Oh, yeah, that's Lindsay Lohan, the Hollywood starlette, portraying Madonna's, "like a virgin."

As Paris' fashion week is happening, Gareth Pugh is presenting his line via film. All eyes have been on Gareth for a while and Rhianna was one of the first stars to wear his designs. For a while, it's been rumored that he may be taking over as the designer for Dior Homme, especially after LVMH began backing his line. We think that's a great idea.

VIRGIN CLOSING ALL STORES IN AMERICA

The "deprecession" as I like to call it has tagged another victim, Virgin Megastores. All U.S. stores will be closing by this summer affecting over 1,000 people. Over the past few years, Virgin had closed some of their stores that weren't doing that well and keeping the stores in "prime" areas opened. I'm sure the combination of the economy along with the ailing record industry added to the strain to keep them afloat.

It seems like Tom Ford has the photography bug. After directing his first film, "A Single Man," Tom has decided to shoot his own ad campaign featuring Karen Elson and John Kotrajarena. The new images will begin premiering in March mags. The images are indeed quite simple-we hope it was a creative decision and not an economic one. Perhaps he should go back to Terry Richardson.

COSTUME INSTITUTE at THE MET:MODEL AS MUSE

With so many supermodels of the past making comebacks, it makes perfect sense that this year's Costume at the Met will focus on the exhibition of The Model as Muse:Embodying Fashion. Anna Wintour along with the Institute's Harold Koda, the Met's Thomas P. Campbell and co-chair Marc Jacobs came together to discuss the details. Marc said Yves Saint Laurent said it best, "A good model can advance fashion ten years." For Marc Jacobs that model was Kate Moss. She was the face that catapulted his 1992 grunge collection at Perry Ellis. This is another sign of the return of the supermodels. Maybe the supermodels will be the superheroes that can save the fashion world from this insane economy.

PURPLE-NATASA VOJNOVIC-TERRY RICHARDSON

Purple is well-known for their incredible editorials et al. Check out the newest edition with Diane Von Furstenberg on its cover. On their site, they been posting interesting videos of their photo shoots. One of our favorite models, who has been making a comeback of sorts this season, Natasa Vojnovic, has been in Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang's shows, gives all of herself in this Purple vid. With Terry Richardson doing the photography and founder/editor of Purple Olivier Zahm shooting the video, it provokes an "Eyes of Laura Mars," feeling. It's a 70's flashback with the Warhol like DVF images on the wall , the music, the clothing, the wild rug, and of course Natasa's wild performance.
