THUNDERHEIST "NOTHING 2 STEP 2"

Thunderheist is back with their new vid for "Nothing 2 Step 2." We're up for change, we're loving the new look and the new song is good but it seems like a departure from "Jerk It' and "Suenos Dulces." It definitely grows on you and it will make you hit the dance floor, but in a different way, perhaps. What really caught our eye is the new trend of dancing on the floor as well as the use of "stop motion'' to give the video an animation quality to it. It's similar to the '80's use of "stop motion" in Peter Gabriel's popular video, "Sledgehammer." Thunderheist doesn't use the technique as extensively but they sure love to move on the floor oh so well. Their self-titled cd is released today. We also included another dancing on the floor video by Truckers of Husk. Enjoy!

TIMBER TIMBRE "WE'LL FIND OUT"

Toronto based TIMBER TIMBRE have been around for a few years and ride their own horse in the world of music. Gothic rockabilly is how its described at times, we call it float away music. During a day of stress or not it'll make it you float away. Take a look and listen and float.

FRANCIS and THE LIGHTS " THE TOP"

Francis and The Lights are a NYC band that's all to their own. Front man Francis sings in a special way and moves... well, you have to see for yourself. They are worthy of keeping an eye on and hopefully will clearly breakthrough in '09.

SCARJO "FRENCH VOGUE" COVER

Here's the new cover of French/Paris Vogue with Scarlett Johansson being called "L'anti Marilyn." The anti-Marilyn Monroe, looking quite good in darker locks. It's finally been confirmed that Ingrid Sischy and Sandra Brandt are the International Editors of both German and Russian "Vogue". They've been contributing to both Italian and Spanish "Vanity Fair" since last Fall as well. Looks like since leaving "Interview" they've been moving along just fine.

YUKSEK "SO DOWN" "EXTRABALL"

Yuksek is from France and is known for his remixes i.e. Tommy Sparks, "I'm a Rope." He has his own cd out now entitled, "Away From the Sea," and the song we like the most is the collabo with Chromeo called, "So Down." Its quintessential Chromeo and it sounds so good. Here's also the vid of "Extraball," featuring Amanda Blank, so you can see who is the man behind all the sounds. Yuksek ft. Amanda Blank - Extraball from huziii123 on Vimeo.

CFCF "YOU HEAR COLOURS"

CFCF is usually known for his remixes, but now he has released an ep, "Panesian Nights." His first single we weren't too fond of but his newest "You Hear Colours" is eerily beautiful. The video is also beautiful to watch and quite hypnotic. It's from the 1962 film, "The Loneliness of The Long Distance Runner,"and you'll want to watch it more than a few times.

TOMMY SPARKS "SHE'S GOT ME DANCING"

Just a few days ago we posted about Tommy Sparks and his video for "I'm a Rope." Well, here's our favorite Tommy Sparks' video and song, "She's Got Me Dancing," from his forthcoming, self-titled CD, due out in May. We love the futurama quirkiness of the video and we admit we have this song on repeat. It's perfect for Spring and moving right into Summer. Our predictions are that this song will be a huge hit.

NUMERO# "TONTON KLAXONNE"

French-Canadian duo, NUMERO#, had success with their wildly popular,"Chewing-gum Fraise." Below you can see their quirky cool video of their electro-popness. Their new cd entitled, "Sport de Combat" is scheduled for release this Spring and the first single is called, "Tonton Klaxonne." We actually like it more than their previous tracks. Take a listen. BLACK...DON'T SAY IT BUT IT'S COMING BACK-NICK KNIGHT'S "BLACK and WHITE"

Yes, we've all heard someone say Black is the new Black or Black is back or Black is making a comeback. Truly, though Black is marching back with a full on attack at fashion. Call it the times or call it who wants to see all those bright colors and '80's redux of pumped up colors again and again. Chanel and YSL laid it down for A/W '09 with monochromatic looks of black and white. Other designers hinted at it like Louis Vuitton and Azzedine Alaia. We're telling you it's coming back with a vengeance. So, those of you who want to wear all your colors and prints...ugh...go ahead, eventually, you'll see the light.
In the meantime, here's a great film shot by Nick Knight and Ruth Hogben entitled, "Black and White," which features some of the great monochromatic looks from A/W '09 for British Vogue. It features model Anja Rubik and it's quite a smashing visual. Thanks to SHOWstudio.

"Valentino:The Last Emperor" BEST OPENING FOR DOC IN 2009

Since Wednesday, Matt Tyrnauer's "Valentino: The Last Emperor" had a very impressive opening premiering in only one theatre at NYC'S Film Forum, grossing over $31,700. With it opening in Chicago next week and then LA and San Francisco the following weekend, the highly acclaimed documentary looks like it'll be a Spring hit. If word of mouth continues about the film, it just may have legs to carry it into the Summer.
It's a must see!

THIEVES LIKE US "DRUGS IN MY BODY"

The Swedish/American trio, who now call Paris home, Thieves Like Us, have just released their cd, "Play Music." Their songs have a subtle electro feeling to them and are quite hypnotic. CARINE ROITFELD "REVEALED" WE WANT MORE CARINE!

TOMMY SPARKS "I'M A ROPE"

Tommy Sparks lays down the electro-pop beats like no other. He mixes some familiar beats with a modern twist. Here's the remix of the song, "I'm a Rope." You can see the video HERE ( we hate it when vids are embedded and can't be shared directly). Here's a preview of his second single "She's Got Me Dancing" with the behind the scenes of the video. We like this track a bit more. You?

ANNIE GOLIATH "DAMAGED VALENTINE"

With all the British girls of late like Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Adele, Ellie Goulding and Marina, there was bound to be more. Annie Goliath may come from similar territory but her sound is all her own. Her raspy vocals and sound sets her apart. Take a look and a listen to her song "Damaged Valentine." It may take a few listens but you'll be addicted.

It's the weekend and you need some time to unwind...Try this interactive game where the magic balls drop and you create the sound, the speed and where they bounce. Sounds silly but it verges on being quite zen.

"HOUSE OF STYLE" REDUX

Gosh darn it, MTV, you strike again. Over the years, you abandoned playing music videos and focused on an array of reality programming, some good... some more than awful, and then, you tease us with bringing back "House of Style." So, we're thinking of it in its' heyday with Cindy Crawford serving up cool pieces on behind the scenes in fashion et al and now, you tell us its a "House of Style" Spring special teamed up with Teen Vogue. We're hoping correspondent, Chanel Iman, and host, Bar Rafeali will save it from being too "teeny" but our gut is saying it may be a lost cause seeing what MTV has done to MTV. Let's wait and see when it premieres this Saturday.

LO-FI-FNK "WANT U"

Lo-Fi-Fnk are...yes...a duo... it's quite popular as you can tell from the series of posts lately.

COLLEGE featuring ELECTRIC YOUTH "SHE NEVER CAME BACK"

If you have the chance take a listen to College's other collaborating friend Russ Chimes with their remix of the song. COLLEGE - "She never came back" from Frantz Lasorne on Vimeo.

There's been speculation for many months that will they, are they , when will they and now the first piece is completed. Marc Jacobs and beau Lorenzo Martone are definitely engaged. The next piece is when will the nuptials happen.. by the end of the year, at the New Year, or some time next year. Time will tell or we will once we hear.

NEW VILLAGER "RICH DOORS"

New Villager are a duo who split their time between Brooklyn NY and Forestville CA, which is in Sonoma Valley. Comparisons will be made between them and MGMT but New Villager have a more electro sound than their counterparts. Take a listen to their new song "Rich Doors" and you decide

There was "Unzipped" with Isaac Mizrahi, "Truth or Dare" with Madonna, the upcoming "The September Issue" with Anna Wintour and premiering in New York there is "Valentino: The Last Emperor," with the iconic Valentino Garavani. Matt Tyrnauer filmed Valentino over a period of two years. In his interview with WWD, Matt said he and Valentino hit it off immediately after he interviewed him for an article in "Vanity Fair." After it premiered at the MOMA, it'll be showing in different cities over the next few months. Catch a glimpse of this incredible documentary in these trailers that'll make you want it to come to your city immediately if not sooner.

THE GOLDEN FILTER "SOLID GOLD"

The Golden Filter like to be secretive and mysterious but seeing they're performing at SXSW they can't be kept a secret for very long. Here's their vid for the song "Solid Gold." It's a hypnotic groove that fits in well with the electro-disco pop that's taking over. The video will draw you in and you'll wonder how it'll all end... or maybe you won't. It's a song you'll have on repeat.

THE WONG BOYS "GIT UR FUK ON"

We love our music on the quirky side and The Wong Boys fit right in. They're from Denmark and have a style all their own that we appreciate. Take a look and listen to their vid for "Git Ur Fuk On" as well as their live performance with the quirky cool, girl duo, The Fagget Fairys.

THE BIG PINK "VELVET"

Yes, I know it's all about the duos, trios and soloists, but they all seem to be having an impact on the new direction of music. Here's the London duo, The Big Pink, which had a strong showing with their song, "Too Young To Love." Their new single and vid "Velvet" is a more haunting song that'll most likely make them come to the forefront of the new music scene. Take a listen and see what, if any other groups come to mind.

TELEPATHE "SO FINE"

Telepathe, a female duo from Brooklyn have been around for a couple of years now. It seems like the female duos and soloists are making a mark in the new breed of music. Like their counterparts, Tegan and Sara, Fan Death, and Fagget Fairys, Telepathe have a distinctive and definietly contributing sound to the new breed of music. Here's their vid for "So Fine."

JIL SANDER DESIGNING FOR UNIQLO

WWD is reporting that Jil Sander will be designing both the men's and women's collections for the Japanese retailer Uniqlo. They have several store locations throughout the world including NYC. Jil Sander has been on a break from designing since Raf Simons has taken over designing the line that holds here name. Also, according to WWD, her duties won't be only for one season but several as well as designing a higher price point collection at Uniqlo. Perhaps this will really make a huge distinction between Uniqlo and its' competitors like H+M.

MILKE "LOVE GET OUT OF MY WAY"

Milke are a duo from London. That are a mix of electro-pop and indie club. Here's their new song, "Love Get Out of My Way."

AMERICAN VOGUE EDITORIAL- "SHAPE ISSUE"

We talked about how Beyonce Knowles is American Vogue's newest cover girl. The April issue is entitled, "The Shape Issue." Here are some images from the editorials featuring Karlie Kloss, Douzten Kroes, Edita V., Natasha P. and Daria. These images definitely have a more modern and fresher look and feel to them compared to some of the previous American Vogue editorials.
Interesting how it's the "Shape Issue" and Beyonce Knowles is wearing what she's wearing.
